Today was a lot less exciting after having done yesterday’s blog only this morning. I guess I wrote a lot for yesterday but it was great.
After doing the blog and Prue had done some more washing, we went to the Cafe at the Resort for a cappuccino. While there we spoke with a nice couple from Tasmania. There is always something to exchange with people travelling like we are. They have been to places we are moving towards and vice versa.
Then we spent a little time in the Information Office picking brochures on future destinations. Following this it was back to the Karavan. There was a bit of sorting out of gear in preparation for departure tomorrow.
It was time to crawl under the Bravo and Karavan and grease the spring hangers and pivot points on the suspension of both vehicles, respectively. Always fun getting grease everywhere but it must be done with the possibility of some harsher conditions ahead. While doing this was a good time to check around for any problems and thankfully there were none.
Before lunch, Prue put some corn meat and vegetables into the Dreampot for dinner tonight. We then had a light lunch.
After lunch, we dismantled the awning from the Karavan and packed it and the shade cloth floor away. Better doing it in the afternoon than in the morning when it is likely to be very dewy.
By this now it was time to visit the Sacred Canyon which was about 20 kilometres away. We travelled to it. There are some very old aboriginal engravings. The reason I say old is that they compared to what we had seen on our trek yesterday. There were about 4 lots of engravings mainly showing circular patterns.

On our return, we refuelled the Bravo and then went back to the Karavan. We notice another caravan had pulled in beside us and the occupants were quite friendly. So we chatted for quite a while and then we joined together for drinks and nibbles.
The new neighbours, Hans and Collette, are from Portland, near Bathurst. As we chatted we discovered they know my niece and her fiancé, Kate and Pat, quite well. Not only this connection but also one of their daughters was at school in Bathurst with a girl Prue had taught swimming when we lived at Mullaley. That girl, Harriet, has relatives that own Bando at Mullaley.
The cold was setting in so we adjourned to our respective ‘homes’ and to have dinner. We did collect more information on what is ahead of us and share similar information with what is behind us.
Our dinner was another great meal from our Dreampot. It is so useful and allows prior preparation for a meal up to about 10 hours ahead. After a bottle of red with our new friends, it was just as well it was ready otherwise it may have been soup for dinner!
Tomorrow sees us on the move again after 4 nights at the Wilpena Pound Campground.
