Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon

Saturday, we left the Yulara area or more correctly the Ayers Rock Caravan Park. We packed up relatively quickly and reloaded the Karavan with water as it can be scarce in these parts. Finally, all was ready and secured. We said our goodbyes to Tim, Casey and little Taj who had been beside us for several days. Hopefully, we may see them somewhere in the future. Then as we moved out we said goodbye to Peter and Jane. All the last 5 people appeared in photos during the past few days.

Now we were on the way to Kings Canyon. We drove for about 11/2 hours to Curtain Springs Road House where I refuelled at $1.70 per litre. One does get caught and it is a captive market in this area. If you are in need of fuel you are going to pay. We bought some drinks and nibbles and set off again.

Another hour or so later, I stopped to have a leg stretch as my legs were aching a little. We both walked around and checked the Karavan and Bravo before setting off again.

Before too long we were at the reception area for Kings Canyon Resort. It is owned by the same group as Ayers Rock Resort but is of a bit lower standard although it is clean and tidy.

We set up the Karavan and awning and had lunch. As we had not had a decent coffee since yesterday we walked up to the Cafe and did manage to get one at a reasonable price and quality.

On our return to the Karavan we just relaxed in the shade as it was around 34 degrees today. Later, a couple who we had briefly met yesterday arrived and have booked a massage each for possibly later tomorrow.

Prue went for a swim with Karen and her boys and she advised Karen on bits for Austswim. Karen is heading down a similar track with swimming. Then we went to watch the sun set over the Kings Canyon area and viewed it from near our current location.

Over dinner, we watched as the resident dingo prowled around looking for something to eat. We are advised to ensure that nothing is left around. Prue managed to see it licking the BBQ plate in the camp. They are seen a lot out here and do not seem too scared.
